TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360 watch

The TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360 watch is a technically brilliant timepiece, which brings a level of precision previously associated only with quartz technology, to the realm of traditional mechanics. Housed within the grand dimensions of its 41-mm casing, the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360 watch offers the world an innovative movement that has occupied TAG Heuer's technicians for quite some time. Now ready to hit the market in an extremely limited edition of 360 pieces in stainless steel and 100 pieces each in 18K white and rose gold, the Carrera Calibre 360 watch is certain to become a cult item amongst chronograph aficionados. The base movement of the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360 watch is a precise and reliable automatic-winding ETA 2893 calibre--which has been carefully adjusted for precise basic timekeeping functions.

To this reliable mechanism, the TAG Heuer engineers have added a completely novel chronograph module, with its own dedicated mainspring and escapement; the balance wheel of this dedicated chronograph assembly is smaller than the balance wheel of the main movement, and, in concert with its unconventionally minute hairspring, it oscillates at an unheard of rate of 360,000 beats per hour; by contrast, the balance wheel of the primary movement vibrates at a frequency of "only" 28,800 beats per hour!

Due to the strain that such a frequency necessarily places on the components and lubrication of the mechanism, TAG Heuer's engineers have designed the hyper-frequency chronograph module to operate only when its user triggers it, thereby reducing wear over time. A unique bi-directional crown, enables the separate charging of both mainsprings; turning the crown clockwise winds the primary movement that controls the timekeeping, while counterclockwise rotations tighten the mainspring for the innovative chronograph module--essentially a "sub-movement" all its own. A power reserve indication found at the top of the dial is dedicated to the chronograph, which will run a maximum of 100 minutes when the reserve is at its maximum. The large subdial found at six o'clock is a fascinating telltale hallmark to the technology housed within the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360 watch, and it makes one revolution per second, ticking rapidly through the individual 100ths of a second in an imperceptibly smooth sweep. Aesthetically speaking, the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360 watch showcases a distinctive and easily legible dial with large applied Arabic numerals over a guilloche pattern dial; sword shaped hands with luminous material make the time easily read, by day or night, and a date feature adds further utility to this great timepiece.

Due to the limited production of this watch, and its unique stature in the field of mechanical chronograph technology, the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 360 watch is sure to be a celebrity amongst chronograph timepieces for decades to come.
